Hebrew Teacher in Israel – Meet Mylene
Shalom! I’m Mylene – a Hebrew teacher based in Bat Hefer, Israel, and I’ve been doing this since 2004. Over 20 years, hundreds of students, and one thing I know for sure: the best way to learn Hebrew is to live it.
My teaching combines joy, humor, and real professional structure. I adapt to every student – because no two learners are the same, and no two stays are the same. What doesn’t change is the warmth of the home you walk into.

Life with Our Family

When you stay with us, you’re not a guest – you’re part of the family. My husband Golan and I have been together for over 21 years, and our two daughters have grown up welcoming students from all over the world into our home.
You’ll share Shabbat dinners, morning conversations over Israeli breakfast, and quiet afternoons in our garden. Our cat Mitsi will probably find you first. Hebrew happens naturally – at the table, in the kitchen, in the garden – not just in the classroom.
Welcome to our home in Bat Hefer, a charming town in the Sharon region.
Guest rooms vary in size, features, and price. Room assignments are determined according to the accommodation option booked, availability, and the overall needs of the program. Specific rooms cannot be guaranteed in advance.
Disclaimer: A friendly cat lives in the home.
*Guests with cat allergies should take this into consideration when applying.

Perfect Location for Hebrew Learning
Furthermore, our location in the central Sharon region offers a perfect balance. Specifically, we provide tranquil village life with easy access to vibrant hubs. Within walking distance, you will find a shopping center with cafes and local restaurants. Moreover, we are just minutes away from the main highway, 20 minutes from Mediterranean beaches, and 30 minutes from Tel Aviv. Consequently, you get the best of both worlds during your stay.nn

Why Students Choose Mylene
Students come back — and they send their friends. Here’s what makes the difference:
“Despite my very halting Hebrew, Mylene and her family kept speaking Hebrew with me and correcting my mistakes in patient and friendly ways. I left feeling very motivated to continue.”

“I enjoy spending time with Mylene’s family. I receive a warm and heartfelt welcome, play games together, have conversations, and sit together. It’s a great opportunity to experience and be a part of a real Israeli life. The food is special and delicious, and being a part of Chanukah celebrations and celebrating Shabbat together is very meaningful to me.” — Samuel

I recently finished studying with Mylene and staying with her family for 3 weeks. It was truly an amazing experience!! Mylene focuses on the aspects of the language that will help you communicate and make efficient progress. I feel more confident speaking in Hebrew, and I am so excited to continue learning this wonderful language! Studying with Mylene and learning about Israeli culture and traditions from her family was one of the best decisions I have ever made! I don’t think I would have progressed this much with the language and enriched my understanding of the country if I had not studied in this program. I can’t wait to come back to Israel again :)
Coming from a background of 5 years of independent Hebrew learning using a popular app, I recently completed 2 weeks of Home Ulpan with Mylene. Mylene and her family (Golan, Noa & Lia) are friendly and very informal people who welcomed me into their home. I found Mylene to be a patient and dedicated teacher, who was always prepared with activities that deepened my Hebrew knowledge. She looked for different ways — e.g. through songs and stories — to encourage practice in a particular concept or to increase my general enjoyment of learning. She consistently reviewed and integrated previous concepts with new. I believe that content was chosen specific to my level and needs. Despite my very halting Hebrew, when not in class, Mylene and other family members encouraged me by continuing to speak with me in Hebrew and correcting my mistakes in patient and friendly ways. This was helpful as it made for a more immersive experience and gave me the opportunity to TRY to speak on more general topics. I was touched when they prepared a beautiful Friday Shabbat dinner for me, at which I met extended family members who were all friendly, engaging people, who understood that I was there to learn Hebrew. It was a real pleasure meeting Golan’s mother, brother, sister-in-law and nephews. Finally, Mylene leads a truly enjoyable dance class on Monday evenings. So am I chatting away in Hebrew? No, two weeks were simply not enough for me! But Mylene’s classes helped me make the essential move from screen-based Hebrew to conversational Hebrew…the sort with actual people involved. I also left feeling very motivated to continue. I am very grateful for this and would recommend her program.
Shalom, my name is Helena, I live in Málaga, I’m interested in studying with you this summer, I’m travelling to Israel with my 12 years old kid, named Meir. We’ll like to be with you for 2 weeks, from the 1th to the 15th of August. I can speak Hebrew but he doesn’t and he wants to learn. We think this is the best way to do so. We eat kosher and respect shabat. Thank you.
Hello Helena,
I´ve wrote you an email.
Mylene will be happy to host and teach you.
Dear Mylène
My thanks go out to you and your whole family. You treated us as family and we felt like family. You gave us far more than what was promised in your brochure, and we appreciated everything that was in the brochure and all the extras. You made your lessons so clear and so well organized and you made them so much fun. We truly enjoyed laughing and learning with you. And we admire your patience with us whether we moved fast or slow. More thanks. Amichai and Helena Heppner.
Dear Amichai,
Thank you very much for the warm recommendation.
We really enjoyed hosting you and your wife.
We would love to see you again.
Studying Hebrew with Mylene was an amazing experience. Learning Hebrew in an immersive environment is the best way to progress in learning the language. Living with an Israeli family is also the best way to understand many of the nuances in the language and also how regular Israelis live day to day. I thoroughly enjoyed my entire time here. The generosity of all the family members was amazing. If you are considering learning Hebrew in a more intimate setting I highly recommend Home Ulpan.
Dear Donovan,
Thank you very much for your review.
We enjoyed very much to host you.
You’re always welcome here.
Hope to see you soon again.
Best,
Mylene
I’m a 16 and had an amazing super awesome two weeks I’m from Philadelphia and it’s my first time in Israel on my own.
Mylene and her family made me feel so welcome both to their home and to Israel itself. The Hebrew lessons were also fantastic I feel like I understand and am able to use much more Hebrew then I did when I first came. Overall everything from the food, to the family, to the house, to the lesson was amazing . 10/10, it was such an amazing experience. Thank you
I had a wonderful immersion experience with Mylene and her family the first two weeks of this month, although the October 7 attack certainly added a sorrowful dimension. The reassurances they expressed eased my nerves, and our lessons continued unabated. Mylene is an excellent teacher. I feel I have a much better grounding on which to move forward. Being there during Sukkot and Simchat Torah was an extra delight. The only thing I would do differently next time is to stay longer!
Dear Scott,
Thanks for your very powerful review 🙏
Thanks for your trust in those challenging days we spent together.
Waiting for you to stay longer the next time.
Am Israel chai
It was a great and wonderful time staying with Mylene and her family in Bat Hefer. I was there for almost 2 weeks from December 1st, during the war. The smal town is a nice, quiet, safe and lovely place, sitting outside or inside in a cafe drinking and eating. Running, walking, talking, reading, doing homeworks :) – all things are possible there.
I improved my skills in a short period of time very. Every day (five days a week) 4 hours school and in the afternoon homework for additional 2 hours. It is very comfortable and recommend to come and get such an experience in a home ulpan course.
I was part of the family real life in Israel. Singing, eating, celebreating holidays, playing games, waching TV, talking, learning – sharing everything. Of course I had my own private space, too.
It is the center of Israel, so you can also travvel to some other places from there in short time.
Very very special is the israeli food, if lunch, dinner or breakfast – evrything is very delicious.
Dear Samuel,
Thank you so much for being ready to come to Israel specifically in war time.
Thank you for choosing Home Ulpan as your destination, and for your unconditional love and support for Israel.
Our family cherished the moments you spent with us.
and we are grateful for your sweet words.
You are always welcome here, and Bubu says “Hi”! 😉
We hope to see you soon, dear friend from Germany.
It was absolutely wonderful to stay at Mylene’s house. We were there only three day, and enjoyed a lot all this time. Lessons were very useful, and Shabbat dinner was amazing!!!
Dear Elena,
Thank you very much for your review.
It was a real pleasure for all the family to host you guys and teach you!
I am from Germany and this was not the first and certainly not the last time I was in Israel. I had some previous knowledge of Hebrew from a three-month intensive course. Mylene worked out my weaknesses and gaps well and gave me help and tips to improve my knowledge, which was really valuable. She was very patient. The interaction in the family is absolutely uncomplicated and relaxed, very pleasant and friendly. I am happy to have met the family. Perhaps there will be another opportunity, that would be great.
I had a wonderful experience at Home Ulpan with Mylene Ein-Zev and her family. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the beauty of Bat Hefer. The town is peaceful and picturesque. Walking through the warmly lit paths at night felt like stepping into an enchanted garden. The ambiance was magical and has a calming effect.
Bat Hefer offers so much to its visitors. The town has numerous beautiful parks, charming restaurants, and a chic café perfect for a relaxing coffee break. There is also a well-stocked grocery store where you can find everything you might need. The thoughtful design and amenities of the area truly enhance the experience.
The accommodations at Home Ulpan exceeded my expectations. My private room and bath were spacious, comfortable, and beautifully furnished—providing a cozy haven after each day of learning and exploration. The house itself is surrounded by a garden with flowers, trees, and even a fountain, creating an idyllic atmosphere.
Mylene, her husband, and their two daughters welcomed me into their home with open arms. Their warmth and hospitality were truly remarkable. They were always ready and willing to engage with me in Hebrew, fostering an immersive language experience. One of the highlights of my stay was the Friday night Shabbat dinners—imagine a feast reminiscent of Thanksgiving, but every week! The food and the sense of community were heartwarming. I was also deeply appreciative of the opportunity to attend synagogue with Mylene’s husband, which added a meaningful spiritual dimension to my stay.
The Hebrew lessons were exceptional. Classes began at 9:30 a.m. and concluded at 1:00 p.m., with a break in the middle. Mylene is an extraordinary teacher—patient yet determined to push her students to reach their full potential. The lessons were completely tailored to my specific needs, covering grammar, vocabulary, Israeli history, and culture through a variety of engaging exercises, texts, and videos. Her personalized approach made every session incredibly effective and enjoyable.
In every aspect, Mylene and Home Ulpan delivered an unparalleled learning and cultural experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Home Ulpan to anyone seeking an immersive and transformative Hebrew learning journey. It’s a five-star experience!
Hello Mylene, maybe we will finally meet ! I hope so and am looking forward to forward to this possibility …
This Ulpan offers you more than learning, it gives you the feeling of finding a home and a family! La mora guides you through the grammatical labyrinth and the richness of thousands of words with an unlimited patience and a deep knowledge of all aspects of the Hebrew language ! Thanks you Mylène and your family for being my family during the entire month of November 2026. With deep appreciation…..
Maria
Maria, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
We feel truly blessed that you were part of our lives for a month and even more so, knowing that from now on, we’ll be part of each other’s lives forever.
Hi kulam – hello everybody. Homeulpan for me was a shot in the dark, an adventure into the unknown. I had only taken the first steps in learning modern Hebrew, but knew that I was at the point where I needed some one-to-one tuition and conversational practice.
Mylene is a very good teacher. She pushes you hard, but it is well-judged. The lessons are well thought out and there is a lot of homework.
Her family are lovely, cheerful and helpful souls.
At my stage, this was definitely the right choice, to straighten out endless clumsy constructions and to give a more proper feel for the language.
To anyone struggling to learn modern Hebrew, this course will rekindle your enthusiasm and set you on the right path.
All in all, it was a very pleasant and worthwhile two weeks.
Peter Morris: England.
Thank you so much, Peter. Your words truly mean a lot to me. It was a real pleasure to work with you and to see the progress you made in such a short time. Your dedication and thoughtful approach to the language made teaching you a joy. We loved having you with uss.
You’ll always be welcome back!
Thank you to Mylène and her family for a wonderful experience. Sharing their home was just as important as the Hebrew lessons. My experience with Ivrit was more than 50 years ago, so Mylene had to start almost from the beginning. Two weeks later, I can formulate simple sentences, read without the vowels (something I didn’t think possible) and write words both in print and script. So many others have already extolled Mylène’s teaching skills, so all I need to say is that I completely agree. My two weeks (extended by the war) are sadly coming to an end. It feels like I am leaving part of my family behind. I plan to continue my studies, perhaps with a return visit to Bat Hefer. I hope that my new family members will visit me in Las Vegas so I can return their hospitality.
I have spent two very memorable and educational weeks in Mylene’s Home Ulpan. She is very structured in her approach, tailoring it to my level, and the results are evident. I did not expect to make quite so much progress in such a short time. She and her family are very friendly and welcoming, all willing to help if needed. I have had a wonderful time and look forward to the next opportunity to attend Home Ulpan and climb another level.
I am just finishing a two week homestay with Mylene and her family. I learned a ton of Hebrew, and the accommodations were very comfortable. It was very easy to get into Tel Aviv from here as well.
I spent only a week studying with Mylene and would have liked to stay another week. Mylene is an excellent teacher and I learned a lot from the very intensive lessons and then from the homework. I have been dabbling in Hebrew for several years but I wanted to jump to another level – correct grammar and sentence structure. Mylene definitely helped me with that and I now know what I need to practice. I was a little apprehensive about coming to a strange place and staying with people whom I have never met but I was immediately comfortable in Mylene’s home. Shabbat dinner with her family was a highlight – the food was excellent ( both Mylene’s and Golan’s) and there was warmth and much laughter.
The town is easily walkable – grocery store, pizza shop and nice cafe and numerous paths to take daily walks. I also managed some trips to Zichron Yaakov, Netanya and Herziliya. It was a great week and I am motivated now to step up and continue learning Hebrew.
